Android evernote replacement cnet2/22/2023 ![]() ![]() I'm looking forward to see what actual, out-of-the-box alternatives people will have to offer in this thread, though!ĮDIT: looks like the latest Nextcloud Android app allows for auto upload from custom folders as well as images: Auto upload custom folder app UI. ![]() FolderSync isn't FLOSS, but I haven't come upon open source alternatives that worked as smoothly. On Android I use the FolderSync app to sync local files back into the cloud since AFAIK that still isn't supported by the Nextcloud client. On my various devices I can use whatever local Markdown editor to save into the synced folder. I keep that synced between my computers and Android phone to jot down ideas and to-do's, this doesn't allow for embedded images or anything fancy but it fits my use case. Since abandoning EN, I have used my Nextcloud web instance as a makeshift note repository: literally a Notes folder within the Document folder. I include FLOSS as a criterion because that is my own preference, YMMV but for me the two go hand in hand. No need to call meetings or send multiple emails, get everyone on the same page with this Evernote replacement. Quip docs are a single, live version that everyone can view and edit simultaneously. First impressions was great though.Īnything you'd recommend over what I've mentioned?Įvernote hasn't really been beat at their own game by FLOSS self-hosted solutions IMO, and I say that as a former user who quit the service in 2012 to host my own. Quip combines documents, spreadsheets, checklists, and team chat in one place making it a killer alternative to Evernote. ![]() Soon (TM) - This was the dealbreaker for me, so I didn't test this too much. Summary: Fits my needs best, but leaves me wanting for more GitHub issue said to directly delete from DB IOS, Android, MacOS, Windows native apps availableīuggy (?) - e.g., unable to delete users you created from native interface. I'm starting this thread with hopes of reviving some interest in this space and also with the hope of stumbling on something new! It's also been more than a year since Evernote raised their prices: Īre FOSS Evernote replacements still full of compromises, lack of native apps and just buggy? It's been almost one full year in since the last full Evernote replacement discussion. ![]()
